Louise Bourgeois
A quick homage to Bourgeois, who died earlier this week. Her work is not always easy: confessional, feral, vulnerable, grotesque. And our visceral reactions to it are what make it so good. Obituary by Holland Cotter and photos from the LA Times.
Writing on topics I find interesting: early American modernism and the study and practice of art history in general. I hold a PhD in art history, and I have worked in museums and commercial galleries in curatorial and research positions.
When not blogging, I work for Hollis Taggart Galleries. This website is not related to the gallery.
